Biography

Anthony Mersino is the founder of the Project Advisors Group, a consulting firm focused on bringing emotional intelligence to project managers and IT professionals. With over 22 years of experience as a project manager, he has had the opportunity to work in numerous industries and with a variety of technologies and methodologies.

Anthony is the author of "Emotional Intelligence for Project Managers: the People Skills You Need to Achieve Outstanding Results". Anthony teaches workshops on emotional intelligence for project managers and IT professionals. He also teaches custom PM and IT related courses and project management courses for ESI International.

As an active project manager, Anthony is often found leading large teams to deliver complex IT solutions. He was recently asked to build a team of 60 resources and deliver a complex technology solution for a government in the Middle East. Anthony has also led several IT projects at Abbott Laboratories including implementing sales force automation on handheld computers for the national sales force.

Prior to founding the Project Advisors Group, Anthony held leadership positions at several consulting firms, including FutureNext Corporation, where he led several complex national website and e-commerce projects for Fortune 500 companies. As an Engagement Manager, Anthony cultivated the client relationship as well as the project development team, bringing improved deliverables and execution.

Before joining FutureNext, Anthony was a Project Director for Unisys Corporation. As a member of the Unisys worldwide project management office, he was responsible for project quality assurance assessments. In 1999 he lived and worked in Guadalajara Mexico, overseeing a portfolio of 17 Unisys systems integration projects worth $85M. He learned what worked, and just as importantly, what did not work and why.

Anthony contributed to several turnaround projects for Unisys and was asked to take a leadership role in the recovery of a $10M systems integration project. He attributes his industrial strength risk management to these turnaround projects. He was awarded the Unisys Chairman’s Excellence Award in 2000 for the leadership of an Oracle ERP implementation.

Prior to Unisys, Anthony led systems integration projects for Ameritech clients. Prior to Ameritech, Anthony was a program manager for IBM. While at IBM, Anthony received the “IBM Means Service” Award in 1986 and 1989 for his efforts on several engineering and information systems projects.

Anthony has an undergraduate degree from Michigan State University, and earned his M.B.A. from Loyola University of Maryland. He has authored several project management articles for the TechRepublic.com and Builder.com websites and is a frequent speaker on topics related to Project Leadership.

Anthony is a member of the National Speakers Association, the American Society for the Advancement of Project Management, and the Project Management Institute. He has been a PMI certified Project Management Professional since 1995.
