As many of you know, I have been a runner for a number of years now and I have run a number of marathons. I even qualified and ran the coveted Boston Marathon 2 years ago. This fall I am running for a purpose beyond just trying to keep my weight under control.
On October 11, I will be running the Chicago Marathon to raise money for a charity. The particular charity I’ve chosen is RISE International which helps the children of Angola by building schools. Education has made such a big difference in my own life that I cannot imagine that there are 3.5 million children in Angola Africa who do not have any school to attend. Our Rise Running team is committed to raising $80,000 to build one school in Angola. We recognize that we cannot individually solve all the problems, but we can each do a little bit to help.
My own goal is to raise $3,000 toward that school which is just over $115 for each of the 26 miles I will run. I am inviting people like you to donate to this cause. If each person donates $2 or $3 per mile (or one person donates $3,000!), we will easily meet or exceed that goal.
You learn more about this opportunity by visiting my fund-raising page at http://www.firstgiving.com/anthonymersino. If you chose to help, you can safely donate online with a credit card. All donations are secure and sent directly to RISE International, NFP by Firstgiving, who will email you a printable record of your donation. You can also mail me a check made out to RISE International if you’d prefer.
Please forward this on to anyone who might like to be a part of the team.
Thank you in advance.
Anthony
